This year feels different, I’m ready for a break, and traveling is starting to sound like a great idea! I think we will start with a long drive, well, not too long, about 3 1/2 hours from where we are, I know the perfect place.
I think it’s fair to say we we’ve earned some downtime.
The spring brings new growth and a fresh start.
Nothing is exactly the same as it was and I find I reach for who and what I can depend on because we’ve all learned at this stage, moments matter.
And that brings me to the Adirondacks, just the name evokes a fall feel and after the last few months, I am more than ready…
Lake George in itself is about as picturesque as you could imagine; the Sagamore in Lake George takes it to a whole new level.

From the moment you drive up to the historical building, old-world charm greets you. If you’ve ever seen the movie, Somewhere in Time with Jane Seymour, that’s what this hotel reminds me of.

Although there are several different residential buildings within the Sagamore, we prefer the historic hotel. When you walk through the lobby to the back patio, you are greeted with a view of the lake that is breathtaking.

Love early mornings on the patio watching the sunrise and the fog lift.

The accommodations, although somewhat dated, are welcoming and comfortable.

There is plenty to do, or you can do nothing at all. Personally, ‘nothing’ works for me, with the exception of eating, a little boutique shopping, and the spa. I don’t need much more than that.

Great ideas for a ‘fashion blogger’ and her daughter. ☺
If you like to hike, there are a few of the best trails around, or you can go to the highest point as we did on Prospect Mountain.

Walking paths literally in the back of the hotel…

Late afternoon you can sit on the patio or one of many spots overlooking the lake, or you can mellow out by one of the massive fireplaces either in the lounge/bar area or the lobby.

Food is served all afternoon at any one of the tables…

The fireplace goes all day in the lobby, beautiful area to enjoy a hot chocolate or coffee.

We spent a day walking around the town of Bolton Landing which has several boutiques as well as restaurants on every block.

We are a family that loves macaroons and The Forest Hill ADK Cafe was a great place to stop for that and a coffee.

Boating is always an option as well.

Alternatively, The Lake George Steamboat Company is another option if you are looking for a day cruise or just a few hours out on the water. Personally if I’m laying by the pool, I’m happy just watching the ships go by; that was a song, right?

A couple of the restaurants are literally right on the water at the hotel itself, which is where my husband and I prefer to eat.

Honestly, it was a great escape that I would recommend The Sagamore to anyone who needs to recharge once in a while and just reconnect. What are your plans this fall?
